Individual Counselling

Individual therapy offers a supportive environment for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, helping to identify patterns that might be hindering personal growth. Sessions will encourage self-reflection and a deeper understanding of self, to improve relationships and overall well-being. Whether navigating life transitions, dealing with past trauma, or seeking personal development, individual therapy provides a safe space necessary for growth.

Couples Counselling

Couples counselling can address any challenges that arise from ineffective or a breakdown in communication. Many partners express feelings of being unheard or misunderstood, leading to repetitive conflicts that seem to have no resolution. This can create a frustrating cycle where issues resurface without any real progress being made. Counselling sessions facilitate a deeper exploration of these recurring themes, enabling both individuals to gain insight and deepen their relationship. While deciding to seek professional help can be daunting, especially if one partner is hesitant, it's important to know that therapy focuses on creating a safe space for dialogue rather than assigning blame. The goal is to improve communication and work collaboratively towards the desired changes in your relationship.

Family Counselling

Family therapy offers a collaborative approach to addressing the dynamics and challenges that can arise within family units. Families often experience conflicts, communication breakdowns, and shifts in roles that can lead to distress and misunderstandings. Therapy sessions create a supportive environment where all family members can express their feelings and perspectives openly. This process encourages understanding and empathy among family members, helping to identify patterns of behaviour that may contribute to ongoing issues. By working together, families can develop healthier communication strategies, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their connections. Family therapy is particularly beneficial during times of transition, such as divorce, loss, or major life changes, as it increases resilience and unity within the family system.

Child and Teen Counselling

Adolescence is a critical developmental stage characterised by emotional development, identity exploration, and social challenges. Young people also experience academic pressure, social media influences, and the desire for independence, which can lead to anxiety and isolation. Counselling provides a safe space for teens to express themselves without judgement. During sessions, we may be able to explore issues such as self-esteem, peer relationships, and family dynamics, gaining coping strategies and resilience. Counselling empowers adolescents to understand their emotions better, develop skills for effective communication, and improve relationships.

Group Counselling

Group counselling provides a dynamic and supportive environment where individuals facing similar challenges can come together to share experiences and gain mutual support. This type of counselling encourages individuals to explore their feelings and thoughts within a collective setting, increasing their sense of belonging and reducing feelings of isolation. Sessions often focus on themes such as self-esteem, social skills, coping with life transitions, or managing specific issues like grief or anxiety. The group dynamic can facilitate learning from others’ perspectives, promote empathy, and enhance communication skills. As a counsellor, facilitating a safe and respectful space for open dialogue is essential, helping clients to build resilience, confidence, and a sense of community, which can be crucial for personal growth and healing.

Corporate & Training Counselling

Counsellors can also offer opportunities within organisations, to support and improve employee well-being and promote positive workplace culture. Corporate counselling can address stress management, burnout prevention, conflict resolution, and enhance emotional resilience among staff. By providing confidential support, workshops, and training sessions, counsellors can help employees develop better coping strategies, improve communication skills, and navigate workplace challenges effectively. Additionally, training programmes can focus on developing leadership qualities, emotional intelligence, and team-building skills, contributing to a healthier, more productive environment. Counselling within organisations can be beneficial to promote pro-active mental health initiatives, reduce staff turnover, and support overall organisational growth by nurturing a motivated and emotionally balanced workforce.

(Q) How long is a therapy session?

(A) Sessions last for 50 minutes.

(Q) How do you take payments?

(A) I accept cash, bank transfer, or debit card payments. Full details will be shared at the time of booking an appointment.

(Q) Who is counselling for?

(A) Counselling is available for anyone who thinks they could benefit from speaking with a professional about their challenges. Even minor issues can become overwhelming, impacting various aspects of our lives without us noticing. Signs may include changes in sleep or appetite, mood swings, low energy, or difficulty focusing at work or with loved ones.

(Q) How will counselling work?

(A) Initially, we will have a confidential phone consultation where we can discuss your motivations, expectations, and goals for counselling. After exploring your thoughts, we can determine together if I am suitable for you. You can decide how often you would like counselling, where you would like counselling, and what type of counselling depending on your personal preferences.

(Q) What is your approach?

(A) As an Integrative Counsellor, I tailor my approach using various therapeutic methods, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Humanistic techniques. This holistic perspective empowers you to explore your thoughts and feelings, develop coping strategies, and achieve personal growth

(Q) How often / how many sessions will I need?

(A) Initially, weekly sessions are preferable for consistent growth and support. However, as you begin to feel more comfortable and make progress, we may adjust the frequency to bi-weekly or even monthly sessions, depending on your needs and preferences. Regarding the amount of sessions, this can vary and will be influenced by the specific challenges you wish to address, as well as how manageable or difficult you find the therapy process. Generally speaking, short-term therapy can be beneficial for many individuals, typically involving a minimum of 6 sessions and a maximum of 20. If long-term therapy is required, a timeframe of approximately 1 to 3 years may be a reasonable expectation. What's important is that we maintain an open dialogue about your needs from counselling and determine when you feel ready to conclude the process.

(Q) Do you charge for cancellations:

(A) If you need to cancel or modify an appointment, I will make every effort to assist you. However, due to my busy schedule, I must charge the full fee for any sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours notice.

(Q) What is the BACP?

(A) The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) is a professional body that represents and supports counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK. It sets ethical standards for practice, promotes the importance of mental health, and provides resources for both practitioners and clients to ensure high-quality therapeutic care.
